Incorporating Information Technology Concept to Sustainable Enterprise

Sustainability is a challenge that increases the emergent complexity faced by the enterprise. Various contradictions and difficulties in finding a compromise point between various economic, social and environmental aspects become obstacles in achieving Sustainability. There needs to be a new rationality endeavor from the enterprise, through changing definitions and discovering how to engineer the context in which the enterprise is located. This effort is taken by incorporating the concept of information technology into the concept of sustainable enterprise. This paper attempts to propose a Sustainable Enterprise definition and ontology from an Information Technology perspective. Sustainable Enterprise is an information based entity that is intentionally designed, built, operated and in the process continues to grow to complement its assets and capability to achieve certain goals by maximizing all resources or potentials that can be accessed. And in the midst of society, Sustainable Enterprise has a role as a sustainability agent. From this definition and based on the perspective of regulators and business owners, 18 important terms from Sustainable Enterprise ontology were obtained.
