Optimization of the Aircraft Post-Stall Turning Maneuver Operation Command

To provide the pilots with a practical reference for the aircraft post-stall turning maneuver flight, the optimization of discrete operation commands forwarded to the aircraft in the three-dimensional post-stall turning maneuver is studied. The aircraft time-optimal turning maneuver trajectory optimization model that considers various path constraints is developed. A practical discrete command sequence model is proposed and it parameterizes the controls piecewise in constant parameters. With the Radau Pseudo-spectral (PS) knotting method, the optimal operation commands for the post-stall turning maneuver are obtained and the dynamic motion of the aircraft is investigated. These results are verified by the feasibility simulation and the optimality condition. From this study, it is shown that the Angle-of-attack (AoA) and thrust utilizing a three-phase structure and the velocity bank angle rate utilizing a four-phase structure may well perform the aircraft post-stall turning maneuver.
