A design approach of the self-oscillating electronic ballast

This paper presents a new version improved design and practical considerations about series parallel resonant filter LCC for electronic ballast applications. The electronic ballasts need to work in a short frequency range, therefore, an efficient and correct design of the filter LCC and self-oscillating circuit is necessary for to find the best operation point. The ballast must be concerns to the lamp conditions to ignition and in steady state that guarantee for the self-oscillating circuit the designed frequency. The filter's design equations are derived through the square wave applied in the LCC filter and self-oscillating circuit, which are decomposed through Fourier series, building a design methodology for to project the LCC filter and self-oscillating circuit. In this form, mathematical tools test the self-oscillation conditions, as Tsypkin's Locus for design and to test the self-oscillation frequency and Z transform for stability tests. The validate of this approach is guaranteed by simulation and results obtained in laboratory.
