Reinforcing the overhead distribution network

This article is a progress report on the work that Hydro-Quebec has undertaken on its distribution network. It describes the utility's response strategy aimed at consolidating the entire power system. More specifically, it deals with the structural part of engineering and R&D efforts to reinforce overhead lines and thus boost protection against accidents such as the one that occurred in January 1998.
