Spectral Ranges Determination for Detection of the Fire Radiation for Flame Detector Based on the Spectral Pyrometry Method

The article describes approach to application of a spectral pyrometry method in construction of flame detectors for detecting fires. Feature of spectral pyrometry method is the ability to determine the temperature in the absence of data on the emissivity of combustible materials. Theoretical study was conducted to determine the spectral ranges for detection the fire radiation for flame detector (electro-optical device) based on the spectral pyrometry method. Analytical dependencies and initial data for the study were determined. Experimental spectral intensities of radiation from test fires (TF1 - TF6) were used as the initial data for the study on determination of the spectral ranges for fire detection. The error of temperature calculation by spectral pyrometry method was determined for set of test fires characterizing the combustion of various materials. The relative error in calculating of the test fires temperatures by the spectral pyrometry method does not exceed 6 %. The spectral ranges for detection of test fires radiation were determined. Spectral ranges for continuous regions of the spectrum correspond to radiation of soot particles and smoldering surfaces. Three ranges for control of fires radiation were determined: 1.8 - 2 μm; 2.2 - 2.4 μm; 3.8 - 4 μm.
