Performance Comparison of DAC’s using 45 nm Technology

In signal processing systems, Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) is one of the important component. It converts analog signal to digital. Depending on the type of ADC, the blocks involved in the design of an ADC will vary. In many applications the power consumption and speed is the major component that effects the performance of the device. One of the performance limiting block in ADC is the Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC). This paper gives an insight to the design of DAC which will be used in different types of ADC’s. The implementation of different types of DAC are carried out with 45 nm technology in Cadence Virtuoso tool and the consumed power dissipation, propagation delay, Differential Non-Linearity (DNL), Integral Non-Linearity (INL) and Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) is estimated.
