Compact MT Angled Fiber Array for Lateral Optical Coupling to Waveguide Grating Coupler of a Photonic Integrated Circuit

Lateral optical coupling using angled-fiber array and MT ferrule for quick plug-and-unplug interconnect to a PIC is proposed. The excess coupling loss of the technique to conventional vertical fiber coupling is 2.4dB/end with 0.4dB uniformity.
