Development of Miniature Control Moment Gyroscope Engineering Prototype

In recent years, microsatellite technology has developed rapidly, and plays an increasingly important role in space exploration, communications, remote sensing and other fields. Miniature control moment gyroscope (CMG), which is a type of the attitude control actuators, has the advantages of large output torque and high energy efficiency ratio. Adopting miniature CMG in attitude control system can greatly improve the attitude maneuver ability of microsatellite. In this paper, the design principle and technical approach of miniature CMG are discussed. An engineering prototype is developed, with angular momentum 0.1Nms and maximum output torque 0.1Nm. The miniature CMG has passed the environmental test and can meet the attitude control requirement of 50-200kg microsatellites.
