Multi-Chamber Disc-Type Lightning Arrester for 13.8 kV Overhead Lines Protection

The article describes a multi-chamber disk-type arrester designed for lightning protection of 13.8 kV overhead lines, widely distributed in the countries of North and South America and South-East Asia. The simplicity and reliability of the design allows the arrester to withstand multiple impacts of direct lightning strikes without destruction. The conducted complex of electrical tests confirms the compliance of the arrester with international standards, and also proves the ability of the arrester to work in networks with short-circuit currents up to 26 kA.
