Optimal energy management of wind hybrid system considering planned load and wind generation reduction

This paper focuses on the management of a wind turbine combined with pumped hydro energy storage microgrid during connected and autonomous operation modes. Authors directed special care to ensure power balance between generation and load consumption while ensuring optimal load shedding and reducing curtailed wind energy, in addition to supporting grid in fault case. A multi-objective algorithm based on fuzzy logic controllers is adopted within three control levels, including an enhanced control based on adaptive concept between two different levels. Simulation results with critical scenarios are provided in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed management strategy.
