Lateral Motion Control of Boeing 747 by Using Full-Order Observer

In this paper a lateral aircraft motion for the Boeing 747, in a state space mathematical representation was defined. A dynamical stability of the model has been analyzed through Root Locus method. A Pole-placement approach of designing the control system was applied. A full-order observer (or state estimator) based feedback controller was discussed. The “principle of separation” and a “dual problem” for determining the parameters of observer and controller are used. The whole observer-state feedback controller system was developed by using Matlab. The correctness of the results are confirmed by using Simulink. An application of Kalman filter for the case of the significant output noise was suggested.
