Production Process Balancing: A Two-Level Optimization Approach

We consider a production transformation problem in the context of the digitalization era. Taking into account ISA S95-1 level model ans standards of ISO 22400, we introduce the two-level optimization algorithm, which allows on the vertical and horizontal integration of various systems of the enterprise as well as on the profit maximization by means of the production line balancing. The case study on the drugs production process supported by "As-Is/To-Be" modeling technique in FlexSim simulation software illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed solution.
