Abstract:

The conservation-restoration of cultural objects concerns the tasks related to the protection, examination, documentation, restoration of these objects. Institutions with different specializations participate in the conservation-restoration life cycle of a cultural object. In this paper, we present CRMCR, a domain ontology dedicated to the conservation and restoration of cultural objects. CRMCR aims at providing a unified understanding of the conservation-restoration data, and it is an extension of the top level ontology CIDOC-CRM.This paper is an extension of the short paper [1], where the interoperability issue in the conservation-restoration domain was settled and a first ontological model including general concepts and relations was proposed. This paper presents the ontology in its final version and explains the reasoning behind the integration of different concepts/relations.
