Studying of urban features by the multifunctional approach to LiDAR data processing

Our paper focuses on the original multifunctional approach to LiDAR data processing and further relevant modeling. This approach implies joint and composite implementation of those software functionalities in urban studies that usually belong to four different modeling domains: Building Extraction (BE), Building Extraction Rural Area (BERA), Change Detection (CD), and Digital Elevation Model Generation (DEMG). Two feature extraction workflows have been elaborated: High Polyhedral Modeling (HPM) based on Delaunay refinement as "a covering TIN", and Low Polyhedral Modeling (LPM) based on the updated point segmentation and clustering. Both have been briefly introduced in this text. HPM technique is intended to process aerial LiDAR data as well as terrestrial ones. Both a web application, and a cloud-based platform, as well as the desktop software have been elaborated on the base of this multifunctional approach. Few interface illustrations of these products, provided on open-source data, are referred. This study outlook supposes to extent the processing pipeline over an urban block, and a district scopes as far as to the whole city area.
