Faraday Rotation Retrieval from Polarimetric SAR using Total Variation Denosing

Faraday rotation estimation is an important work for retrieving the total electron content from polarimetric synthetic aperture radar. The precision of Faraday rotation determines the precision of the total electron content, and noise is one unneglectable factor that will affect the precision. However, not many works concern the denoising process. In this paper, we bring in the total variation denoising method into Faraday rotation estimation. Results on two scenes validate that total variation denoising works much better than the normally applied average filtering.
