Design and Implementation of 1GW MMC-HVDC Based on Real-Time Digital Simulator and Physical Control System

This paper introduces the design methodology of MMC-HVDC control system based on Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), which has advantages of high-speed parallel operation, and verify accuracy of control performance using this control system and RTDS (Real-Time Digital Simulator). Finally, this paper compares the characteristics of LVRT (Low-Voltage-Ride-Through) of MMC-HVDC system composed of physical control system and RTDS.
