Optimal Design of the Expendable Bottom Penetrator by Using CFD

In order to determine the mechanical properties of shallow sediments, an expendable bottom penetrator (XBP) is designed and developed. In this paper, a new method is used to optimize the profile structure of disposable submerged penetrant. To ensure the maximum kinetic energy of XBP equipment when it impacts submarine sediments, the corresponding structural dimensions of the disposable submerged penetrant need to be found. In this paper, a series of gradient-size structures are designed by using Solidworks software, and then the fluid dynamics simulation analysis is carried out by using FLUENT software. The resulting resistance values are processed by MATLAB software to output the corresponding minimum resistance values, and finally the size Fluid dynamics simulation verification is applied to determine the least resistance.
