Optimization of Transverse Hydro Turbine Airfoil in Current Energy Generating Unit

The capability of horizontal axis turbine is related to the efficiency of power generation. Its main component is blade airfoil. The optimization of the airfoil can improve the efficiency of the turbine. According to the optimized method of cutting airfoil, the airfoil model was established by Gambit software and then imported into fluent software for the numerical simulation to get the velocity profile of the optimized airfoil. It can be seen that the turbine output power is the highest at d/c of 0.20. The optimized airfoil turbine lift resistance coefficient was calculated in CFD software. Finally, it was concluded that the lift-drag ratio and the energy efficiency of the optimized airfoil turbine were all larger than the basic airfoils. The average value was calculated and the energy-using efficiency was increased by about 30% the power generation efficiency of the sea current power generation device.
