Real-Time Image Mosaic based on Optimal Seam and Multiband Blend

Visible seams, exposure difference, blurring, or ghosting effects may occur in the overlapping areas for image mosaic when registration error or moving object exists. An algorithm based on optimal seam and multiband blend is proposed. The original images are decomposed into band-pass sub-images of different frequency bands. Low-frequency images with less details are blended through a wider transition region, while high-frequency images with more details are blended according to the mask images generated by the optimal seam line. An improved dynamic programming algorithm is used to search the optimal seam in irregular overlapping areas. The proposed algorithm can effectively eliminate the gap in real-time image mosaic.
