Comparative Study on Vibration Behaviors of Permanent Magnet Assisted Synchronous Reluctance Machines with Different Rotor Topologies

This paper investigates and compares the vibration performance of permanent magnet assisted synchronous reluctance machines (PM-SynRM) with different rotor topologies. First, the electromagnetic force of PM-SynRM is calculated through the Maxwell stress tensor method (MSTM). The temporal and spatial orders of radial force are obtained by two-dimensional (2-D) fast Fourier transform (FFT) and the additional force harmonics of PM-SynRM compared with other types of machines are also given. Then, three rotors with different shape of flux barriers are designed. The influence of flux barrier shape on air-gap flux density, electromagnetic force and vibration are analyzed through finite element method (FEM). Finally, the most suitable rotor topology for low the vibration PMSynRM are selected and the conclusions are summarized.
