Rivne City Land Cover and Land Surface Temperature Analysis Using Remote Sensing Data

A large number of Ukrainian cities faced the problem of the lack of reliable apparat for ecological condition and it's greenery monitoring. Remote Sensing data give's the opportunity to provide reliable information in real conditions for a large area on a regular basis. This approach is applicable throughout the world and was used on the Public initiative "Trees with stories in Rivne", a study that includes the analysis of the condition of urban trees, city land surface temperature, planning and comparison with the city of Lublin. To solve this problem satellite Sentinel-2 images were used to build land cover classification maps and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), satellite images of Landsat-8 used to build land surface temperature maps and increase the time series of vegetation index by 2014. The analysis showed poor condition of green plantations, high summer average temperature of the land surface and deterioration of these indicators.
