Improved Calibration Procedure of Block Error Rate Estimation for Fast Link Adaptation

The fast link adaptation (FLA) used in the OFDM system estimates the channel quality indicator (CQI) suitable for the next channel based on the channel state information (CSI), thereby enabling the system to achieve high throughput. This paper focuses on the calibration method and calibration factors needed to understand the FLA algorithm and to increase the accuracy of the CQI feedback values. The calibration procedure technique we proposed improves the reliability of the optimal calibration factors derived by setting the effective interval. In addition, we present a calibration factor verification algorithm and perform verification simulation based on it. The simulation is performed in various SNR ranges to take into account the actual situation, and the calibration factors are derived from the proposed calibration method. The results demonstrate that the CQI feedback value of the calibration factors derived from the proposed method is more accurate than the previously proposed one.
