Polarization and Frequency Spectra Characteristics of Chaff Cloud Clutter Signals

This Influence on the echoes of the chaff cloud by the translation and rotation of chaffs are studied according to the chaff spiral descent model. The characteristics of the frequency spectra and polarization of the chaff cloud are studied using the statistic method. Firstly, the spiral descent model of the chaff cloud is introduced, as well as the polarization scattering matrix of the rotation dipoles. Then, the self-correlation functions and cross-correlation functions of the elements of scattering matrix of the chaff cloud are analyzed, presenting the power spectra and cross power spectra of the elements of scattering matrix. Finally, the numerical results are given when the orientations of chaffs obey the uniform distribution and horizontal distribution.
