Tunable Combined Splitter/Combiner-Isolator Based on Magnetic Surface Plasmon

A new type of tunable combined splitter-isolator is proposed in this paper. It is based on the surface magnetic plasmon (MSP) of the chain of ferrite rods. This new type of device mainly consists of two chains of ferrite rods which are under opposite biasing magnetic field. By change the direction of the biasing magnetic field the device can be switched between splitter and combiner. We simulated the power flow and transmission characteristics of the device. The device can realize power splitting function and has good isolation between forward transmission and reverse transmission. The operating frequency band can be tuned by biasing magnetic field, it makes this combined splitter-isolator very flexible in applications. and this type of combined splitter/combiner-isolator can reduce the use of additional isolators and simplify system design in a high-power synthesis application scenario.
