An IoT based Wireless Energy Harvesting using Efficient Voltage Doubler Stages in a RF to DC Converter

Internet of things (IoT) is a web of things connected to the internet. IoT quickly gains popularity, not only limited to smart phone or household devices. Long-period and effective functioning are main factors for creation of such a complex network, and require energy-aware electronic component that are very much aware of harvesting their needed power from surrounding sources. There are various energy harvesting techniques like light, vibration, motion, thermal energy and wireless energy. But wireless energy harvesting (WEH) has arisen as a main important solution due to its simpleness, ease of implementation, and availability. The proposed model of WEH presents an optimal voltage doubler divider in an energy transformation unit for Radio Frequency (RF) energy harvesting system. The purpose of the energy transformation unit is to convert the (RF) signals of 900 MHz frequency band into DC voltage. This generated power can be distributed efficiently using a microcontroller based system to the low power devices/circuits mostly for outdoor IoT sensors. To provide power to the sensors the circuit consists of five stage Schottky diode voltage doubler module. Before fabrication the circuit it simulated using Multisim 13.0 software and tested for this work.
