A Fast Pattern Computation Method for Deformed Antenna Arrays

In this letter, we propose a fast method to analyze the radiation patterns of deformed antenna arrays. The mutual coupling effect is characterized by the perspective of modal coupling between different radiating elements based on the theory of characteristic modes. The structural error term is extracted from the reaction integral operation using the Taylor expansion, so that the modal coupling coefficients could be quickly analyzed when structural deformations exist in the antenna arrays. Numerical examples are investigated to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
