Reduced-Order Model for the Clamped-Resonant Interleaved Boost Converter

This paper investigates the dynamic behavior of a DC-DC converter topology called Clamped-Resonant Interleaved Boost converter (CRIB), by deriving a suitable non-linear average model. The topology features zero-voltage and zero current commutations of all devices, independently of the load current, as well as a reduced dv/dt across the switches. Despite the derived average model neglects the resonant tank dynamic, it revealed to be able to capture the converter dynamic in the low-frequency range, and highlights the major contributions to the small-signal transfer functions. The theoretical analysis was confirmed by both simulations and measurements taken on a 300 W-400 V prototype, designed for a 42 - 54 V input voltage range.
