Control System Design for a Walking beam furnace

Walking beam furnaces belong to industry furnace group with a high energy consumption before rolling processes. The main goal of these furnaces is to ensure a uniform billets heating so that rolling is successful at the required performance and quality in the rolling mill. The main reason of reduced quality heating billet is the non-uniform distribution of temperature over the charge length. In proposed paper will be analysed this problem by mathematical model and solved by suitable decentralized control system. The Auto Regressive-Moving-Average method (ARMAX) model has been used for identification of the fuel stream and controllers were tuned with modified Ziegler-Nichols method for more regulation zones.
