A Decentralized Control Strategy for Urban Traffic Network

We consider the problem of urban traffic control over network in this paper. The primary objective of our designed strategy is to determine traffic signal offset and active (green) time for each route in order to reduce the risk of congestion and the number of stops. The dynamics of each road segment is described in discrete time using cell transmission model (CTM). By applying some results in consensus and economic dispatch (ED) problem, traffic flows are computed to solve the constrained optimization problem. They are used as parameters in the algorithm regulating traffic signals at each intersection.
