Solving the Problem of Balancing Algorithms for Relay Protection and Automation Using Game Theory

The development of distribution grids at 6-35 kV in accordance with the concepts of the smart grid, digital cells, digital substations, and outsourcing of services can lead to improvements in methods for describing the structures of relay protection and automation devices. A structural information method is developed here that describes the successive stages of the algorithms necessary for structural information processing in the devices, through a formal presentation of information about the network. Following this, a description is given of the information structures of transients in the network and high voltage equipment networks. A numerical evaluation is carried out of the sufficiency of the amount of signal information for automatic decision-making on disconnecting a damaged network segment. The task is set in a series of previous works, based on the results achieved in improving recognition algorithms and structures of protection devices against single-phase earth faults in networks with a Petersen coil. This article proposes a numerical definition of the equilibrium point between selectivity and blocking using game theory. A comparison is given of the results and the published solution using dynamic functional modelling.
