An approach to the characteristics of cybermedia in Ecuador

Since its inception (1999), Ecuadorian cybermedia has undergone a process of settlement and diversification of content. As a consequence we have 30 means that use the resources that the Web offers. Based on a review of the characteristics of cybermedia: updating, participation, immediacy, multimedia, hypertextuality, etc., this article proposes theoretical bases to identify the characteristics of the media and the added value that each medium has incorporated throughout of these more than 20 years of growth and evolution.
