Probing Ultrafast, Shock-Induced Chemistry Using Extremely Broad Band, Ultrashort Mid-Infrared Pulses

Using extremely broad-band mid-infrared pulses ($3-14\ \mu \text{m}$), and a single shot spectrometer, we probe ultrafast chemistry at high pressures (∼20 GPa) through changes in the vibrational spectrum. Here we present results on shocked benzene and nitromethane.
