Computer Analysis of the Steady States of a 21 MVA Superconducting Transformer

This article describes the computational model of a single phase 21 MV superconducting transformer. The project required the use of appropriate mathematical models for all nonlinear elements. For the construction of the magnetic circuit, the core was made of PN ET114-27 sheet. The mathematical Jiles-Atherton description of the second level was used to determine the non-linear magnetic circuit of the transformer. This model made it possible to reconstruct the magnetic hysteresis loop for the adopted sheet. Using the developed model of the superconducting and conventional transformer with the power of 21 MVA, hysteresis loops were generated and the obtained values of idle current, idle losses, short-circuit voltage and losses in the windings were compared.
