Design and Development of U-shaped slot Wearable Antenna for WLAN/Wi-Fi and WBAN Applications

Body wearable antennas are having some design issues as most of the applications require antenna to be flexible, robust and low-profile. A U-shaped slot dual-band microstrip feed wearable antenna has been designed and fabricated in this paper. It has been observed that by cutting U-shaped slot of the order of λ/2, another mode is originated. Proposed antenna is operating at 2.425 GHz and 5.75 GHz with a gain of 8.29dB and 7.442 dB, respectively. Due to large gain and directive pattern, this antenna can be used for WBAN (wireless body area network) and WLAN/WI-Fi applications.
