Selection of Spatial Filters for ON/OFF Based Topology Optimization of a C-Core Electromagnetic Actuator

This paper investigates different spatial filtering techniques used with ON/OFF based topology optimization and compares their performances for optimizing a C-core electromagnetic actuator. The filters' efficacy in dealing with checkerboard patterns, perforations, and floating material pieces and their impact on the armature force and the topology's smoothness are evaluated and discussed.
