Broadband Phase Control in Frequency and Time Domains: Design of True Delay-Lines for Noise-Decorrelation in Sensor-Arrays

New physics-based design of Delay-Lines with distributed ground references is proposed for broadband Phase-Control in Frequency and Time-Domains. Several On-Chip, On-Package, On-PCB design solutions are fabricated and experimentally evaluated in terms of their broadband RF performances. Analytical and semi-analytical design rules valid in broadband including fundamental and multi-harmonic frequencies are derived as function of device geometry and physical parameters. Physics-based RLC SPICE compatible representation valid from DC to mm-Wave frequencies accounting for radiation effects are proposed. Combination of broadband delay-lines and power-splitters/combiners is proposed for stochastic noise decorrelation in Sensor-Arrays.
