A Study on Anti-saturation SMC of SPMSM based on Anti-reset Windup

Although one of the major problems in designing SMC (sliding mode control) of SPMSM (Surface Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) is to overcome buffeting, the integral sliding mode can help the controller with the system steady-state error and buffeting. In reality, the output current of the speed controller can not be arbitrarily large, in a bid to protect the system. Thus, the saturation limit needs to be incorporated. However, the co-existence of the saturation limit and the integration loop can create a Windup that causes decreased system performance. Thus, this paper has provided a design on anti-saturation SMC to improve sliding mode controller based on anti-reset Windup. Moreover, simulation analysis found that anti-saturation controller eliminated the Windup, which made the system respond faster and made the motor more dynamic in the start-up stage. Also, SMC remained robust in the system, even with external load disturbance. Thus, the system is better able to perform against interference.
