Development of Single-Phase Earth Fault Location Algorithms Using Cable Line Simulation Models

A speedy detection of a faulty cable line with single-phase earth fault (SPEF) and SPEF location in the cable line is extremely important for the speedy elimination of damage and restoration of normal operation of the power supply. The electrical quantities of the transition process that occurs during the breakdown of the insulation can be used for solving the problem of single-phase faults location including self-clearing ones [1]-[4]. In this paper the authors provide the way of a distant SPEF location based on using the object algorithmic model (OAM) when the models of transient voltage on a damaged phase are transmitted to the input. In addition, there was a research of the influence of some distorting factors on the SPEF location. The results and overall score of the method are shown in the article.
