Design of a Monolithic Low-Threshold Narrow-Linewidth CW Mid-IR Silicon Raman Laser

We present a design and calculations leading to anticipated values of key performance parameters (threshold pump powers, wavelength, and linewidths) for an optically-pumped narrow-linewidth (NLW) monolithic all-silicon mid-IR (MIR) continuous wave (CW) Raman laser. For an NLW laser designed to operate at 3.15 μm (based on a 2.71 μm pump laser), we estimate the threshold pump power to be <;10 mW and an output linewidth of <;50 MHz.
