Tube shear wall interaction of high rise building and influence of damper on its dynamic behavior

A tubular frame is a structural system that is used for high rise building to obtain greater height and by adding shear wall the building can go even higher. With the development of new construction materials and procedure the strength of the construction material has been raised several times. As a result of this the members of a tubular building are becoming slender day by day causing rendering problems of vibration and oscillation under earthquake and wind loads. The remedy to this kind of problems may be either to use shear wall or/and bracing or by the use of damper. In this study the dimension of shear wall is varied and effectiveness of the structure is observed under lateral loading. The study reveals that by properly selecting shear wall dimensions and damper parameters a tubular structure can be made more effective and the dynamic response of the building can be controlled and kept within tolerable limit.
