Studies on Energy Consumption Using Methods of Exponential Smoothing

The prediction of energy consumption is an important step in energy management. This paper analyzes the approximation errors by extrapolating energy consumption using the exponential smoothing method. It is found that this method allows the estimation in advance of the energy consumption based on the previous daily consumption of the week. The study was conducted on the basis of the national average hourly electricity consumption in Romania but could be extended to small non-seasonal consumers.
