Vulnerability of SCADA and Security Solutions for a Waste Water Treatment Plant

A waste water treatment plant is a critical infrastructure which contains installations with automatic control. Data Monitoring, Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems are used to collect data which is crucial in decision-making. Increasing automating of such installations implies, beside important benefits, a set of vulnerabilities which should be properly addresses. For SCADA systems, an important issue is represented by data security management, which is reflected in ensuring a secured transmission of information, subsequently materialized in commands on operating equipment. Therefore, this paper presents the vulnerability assessment of SCADA systems and security solutions for a generic Waste Water Treatment Plant.
