Plane Motion and Structure from Two Separate Ellipse Correspondences under 2D Homography

This paper presents an algorithm for computing plane motion and structure from two separate, visible ellipse correspondences under 2D homography. First, using the common self-polar triangle, an analytic solution to the plane-induced homography is presented. Second, using Singular Value Decomposition of the homography and the visibility condition of the common poles, an analytic algorithm for the plane motion and structure problem is presented. The whole proposed method almost always gives a unique solution. The results of the synthetic and real experiments demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed method.
