Generation of optical delay through chirped fiber bragg grating inscribed in a polymer optical fiber

In this work, we have proposed chirped fiber Bragg grating inscribed in a polymer optical fiber for optical delay generation. The proposed scheme utilizes the best attributes of both chirped Bragg gratings and polymer optical fibers. The delay is generated by utilizing distributed reflectance property of the chirped Bragg gratings. The optical delay depends upon effective refractive index of the core, photo-elastic constant, source incident wavelength and bandwidth and elongation length. The proposed scheme is much efficient than conventional silica fiber.
