Multiple Current Sensor Fault Tolerant Control of DFIG Wind Turbine

This paper presents a technique, called Fault Detection and Isolation (FDI) with the objective of upgrading the reliability of a 1.5MW Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) based wind turbine system. Particular focus is directed towards multiple impromptu stator and rotor current sensor failure under stochastic wind speed profile. The choice of fault detection threshold and identification of defective sensors are elaborated with some improvements. The robustness of the proposed technique is evaluated under known `Hall Effect' sensor faults.
