Dynamic Characteristics and Output Power of the Speed Bump Vibration Energy Harvester under the Condition of Random Vehicle Speed

A speed bump vibration energy harvester based on bistable vibration (SBVEH) is put forward in the paper. Its mechanical model and governing equations are established. The arc-shaped speed bump is most common. It is adopted to be modeled in the SBVEH system. Many types of car and trucks with all kinds of speeds travel in the road. The speed of the vehicles is random. So the speed of the vehicle is considered as a normal distribution function with the mean and variance. The relation curves of the root-mean-square (RMS) power and vehicle weight under different mean speed are obtained by means of numerical simulations. It can be concluded that the RMS power increases with the increased weight of the vehicle under the different speeds. When the vehicle speed is 10km/h, the RMS power is the highest among other speeds. The tendency in the phase diagram is similar to that in the RMS power curves. The SBVEH system is suitable to work under lower speed with high-efficiency. The above research results can provide a theoretical reference for the some research of the speed bump energy harvesting system.
