An Analysis of the Effectiveness of E-Schoolbag Usage in an Elementary School in Ningxia, China

E-schoolbag, formerly called "e-textbook", is a comprehensive learning platform that not only contains digitized learning materials such as texts, videos, and voices, but also has embedded functions for learning facilitation and student collaboration. Guyuan Experimental Elementary School in south Ningxia has been piloting the use of e-schoolbag in five classes and, by employing Flanders Interaction Analysis System (FIAS), this study examined a fifth grade class, where three subjects (English, Mathematics, and Chinese) were taught by integrating e-schoolbag into the teaching and learning process. The results demonstrate positive effects in a number of aspects, while certain areas of teachers' technological and pedagogical knowledge have been identified for improvement. Some recommendations have been offered for future teaching and research.
