The effect of oversampling on the probability of false alarm in detection of noise-affected binary sequences

In this paper is presented the effect of oversampling on the probability of a false alarm in the binary sequences used in the process of synchronization in digital communication systems when only a noise is presented on the input of a receiver. Within this, it is evaluated the dependence of the probability of the false alarm on the binary sequence length, L, and the number of samples per bit, k. Although, the expression of the length of equivalent one-sampled sequence through which the effect of oversampling can be observed is derived. Finally, the results of the simulation and the measuring of the probability of the false alarm are shown in function of the number of samples per bit.
