Smart Transformers Performance Study Using SPWM Control under Normal and Disturbed Operation Cases

A Smart Transformer (ST) is a distribution transformer based on power electronic converters with coordinated control and communication functionalities. Power converters are used in the input and the output stages with efficient control technics to satisfy power transformation requirements. In this paper, a SPWM method is used to control the ST operation under normal and faults conditions such as voltage unbalance, voltage harmonics, sag and swell voltage, and voltage fluctuations.
