Accident Detection and Health-Monitoring UWB Sensor in Toilet

Japan is experiencing a super-aging society and the number of domestic accidents caused by elderly is increasing. Especially in toilet, many accidents such as fall-down and stroke have been reported every year. In this paper, a toilet accident detection and health-monitoring system using ultra-wideband radio sensor system is suggested in order to prevent various accident. Measurement are conducted to investigate the usefulness. As a result, the detection rate has been found to be more than 95%. It is also found that the vital sign of respiration while toilet seating can be estimated.
